  • BoA/Burger King offer - strange

I'm used to getting various offers with my bank statement for financial services like home loans, insurance, etc., but this month's statement came with an offer for a free meal at Burger King. If I use my BoA Visa debit or credit card to pay for my meals at Burger King, I'll get a credit up to $7.00 for every 10th purchase between June 1 and August 31.

A couple of problems with this offer:
    1. I never eat at Burger King.
    2. If I did, I wouldn't use my debit card to pay.
    3. The offer started June 1 and I just got this ad yesterday, July 21.
    4. Why does my bank want me to eat at Burger King 10 times in 3 months?

This just struck me as very odd, 2 things that just have no reason to be connected.

Does anyone eat at Burger King anymore. I don't know how they remain in business. I like their burgers, but their service has been so atrocius for so long, I refuse to go there.

Even if I did patronize BK, the '10 meal deal' did strike me as odd also the moment I saw it.

They're connected in the sense that they're both corporations who want to make as much money as possible off the American consumer!

I hear about this offer all the time on the radio. It's not just for BoA. It is for all visa debit & credit card holders.

Basically, you "register" your visa debit or credit card online and then if you make 10 purchases at burger king you get a free meal.

But, like you said, I don't eat at burger king.

I think it is mostly a promo as not everyone knows BK takes CC nows. It seems the fast food joints have only been offering this in recent months. Now it sounds like everyone knows. So the promo is working - hehe.

I'll take BK over McDs ANY DAY! LOL.

Actually we have been popping them on our cards. I think the only reason we ever really carried cash before was the occasional trip for fast food. So I have really enjoyed No need to carry cash since they offered to take credit cards.

They obviously worked some deal with the credit cards. They can not be paying the standard percentage rate to the credit cards for all those small purchases, which is probably why they are cross promoting. I assume that's why it has taken them this long to accept credit cards.

The only time we eat fast food is when we are traveling and stop at a highway rest stop and I do use my credit card typically. Other than that, the offer just doesn't affect me. I certainly don't go to a fast food place 10 times in a 3 month period.
