Need Savings Account but...

at the moment I don't have a checking account.

Due to mistakes that I have made in the past, I don't have a checking account. I use a debit card from Account Now to make my purchases. Is there a savings account around that doesn't require you to transfer money from a checking account? I would like to find one where I could transfer money from the debit card to the savings. By the way, I am getting a checking account from Bank of America sometime this month but in the meantime I want to start a separate savings account.

Does your account have a routing/ABA number? You might be able to do an "ACH" transfer of funds.

Otherwise, you might have to withdraw cash, pay for a money order and then open the savings account with a money order.

Or you could just wait to open the BofA account and do the ACH transfer from there (if you want an online savings account).

If I were you I would wait for the checking account. No use paying fees to open a saving account now when you can wait a month and open it for free. Unless you are depositing a lot of money, the interest you earn won't even cover the money order fee.
