A quick visit to FNBO Direct reveals: "Online Savings Accounts offered by First National Bank of Omaha, member FDIC. Deposits are insured to the maximum permitted by law."

Also, the FNBO web site states: "First National Bank is a subsidiary of First National of Nebraska, a multi-state holding company located in the heart of downtown Omaha. First National has been serving Omaha and surrounding communities for 150 years. First National of Nebraska and its affiliates have over $18 billion in managed assets and 7,500 employees, ranking as one of the fifty largest banks in the United States. First National and its affiliates serve over 6.6 million customers in all 50 states, with more than 90 banking locations in Nebraska, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota and Texas."

But after I input it it says no such person...what's up with that? maybe my pc stored a cookie and it remembers me but I didn't apply at all though...strange, this happen to any of you? maybe my pc got messed with? hacked or whatever?

I had that happen with one account. Somehow if you tell them you want to start an application, that stores some kind of cookie. I would contact them by Email and tell them where you live, what happened to you when you visited the site and ask if they have an international toll-free number where you can speak with another person. I find that sometimes it's easier when you speak with someone in person. Good luck!

It's like I said in an earlier response; it's like a CD. (May to September). What I liked was the rate they were paying before the new offer which was 5.25%. I could definitely leave my money in for that rate. Plus, they are an old and estalished bank.

I tranferred money from HSBC to my regular bank to FNBOdirect. Obviously I lost a few days of interest. I wasn't sure if a straight HSBCdirct to FNBOdirect would have worked and I didn't want to have probelms.

My initial funding account was not automatically linked to my FNBO Direct account. I had to establish a link after the account was opened. FNBO provides two options for verifying ownership of linked accounts, the trial deposit approach, which takes a few days, or by providing your online login credentials, which allows for immediate linking & verification of ownership.

I added on another account and am still waiting for it to receive the 2 small deposits. That does seem to be a bit longer. We'll see.

question I transfered money from ING to my bank and the money is still pending in my bank...can I tranfer it right away from my bank to fnbo? I think it still takes like 3,4 days so maybe it's ok? or not? if not will there be a charge when there isn't enough money in the bank?

anyone got this letter from FNBO?
Because security of your account is important to us, we want you to be aware of one of the steps we take to maintain security: We may temporarily restrict all deposits to and transfers from your FNBO Direct account if we determine a security risk exists and we may refuse to complete any transfer based on the existence of a security risk. Please see the "Note about Linked Accounts" and the "Important Note about Security for Deposits and Transfers" in the updated Disclosures for your account here. Corresponding changes are contained in Sections 7 and 12 of the Online Services Agreement and Section 6 of the Deposit Agreement, all found in the Terms and Conditions here.

so can't take out or deposit money into account? wth is that never seem it before in other savings accounts???

Mine is working fine. First set it up to pull the money from my ING account, and that worked, and then, yesterday, linked my main checking account to it, and I got the deposits last night and confirmed today.

I got the e-mail too. Unfortunately, I had just linked a new account and I thought the message was specifically directed to me.

I called Customer Service, and the rep said it was just a general notice they sent out. I did tell him that the tone of the e-mail left me wondering how much regard FNBO has for their customers.
