  • Did you ever own PBHG funds? Read this!

I used to own shares of PBHG Growth Fund which I sold a few years ago.

Today, I got a check in the mail for $95.70. It was from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Fair Fund Distribution. Apparently, this is a fund established by the SEC to compensate investors whose accounts were affected by some trading irregularities (market timing) that went on in the '98-'01 period and my account qualified.

If you own or used to own any Pilgrim & Baxter funds, you might be due a check also. I guess you could call your broker to find out.

Not to be nosy but do you know of the particulars in the distribution was it a flat fee distribution based upon the number of shareholders or was the remittance based upon how much money that you had invested with PBHG?

I want to know if it is worth my time as I have plenty of layers to uncover before reaping a reward. I had some money in that fund in a 401K with my old my company who got rid of the plan administrator in 2002 who carried the fund and another plan administrator coupled with a subsequent acquisition of former employer with just another new plan administrator.

It won't take that much because I detest what the new company has done with my former company and the pure greed the new management has exhibited since the acquisition..

I don't really know how the payout was calculated. To be honest, I didn't even attempt to read all the fine print that came with the payment. It was totally unexpected money so I wasn't asking questions.
