  • Which Online Interest Checking Should I open?

    Hi!,

I currently use my Bank Of America Checkings account into which my salary is direct deposited. Some times around 10k jst stays in it for a month or so... Guess, I"m loosing interest for that amount sitting in it.

So, planing to open an online Checkings accoung into which salary will be deposited. Been thinking about Electric Orange but worried about Checks....
    Any suggestions .... please

I heard good things about EverBank FreeNet Checking. They are currently offering 6.01% introductory rate for the first 3 months. After the first 3 months, your rate will depend on your balance. Current APY tiers are:

    over $100K, 5.01%
    $50K-$99.99K, 4.15%
    $25K-$49.99K, 3.65%
    $10K-$24.99K, 3.45%
    under $10K, 3.41%

You need a minimum of $1,500 to open a FreeNet Checking Account. You can get more information here.

UnivestDirect (listed on Bankrate.com) offers the same rate as ING's account but with more features, including the use of paper checks, etc.

EverBank's offer is good but aside from the intro rate, and/or if you intend to maintain a high balance such as in the upper rate tiers, the ongoing rate is not so great.

Hence, the recommendation of UnivestDirect; more features than ING, better rate (assuming less than $50K on deposit) than EverBank.
