does anyone know of a website where I can find a stock quote from 10/31/95??

I'm working on my parents taxes, and they sold a mutual fund they acquired then. (I don't remember the ticker symbol, I have it at work). Most of the stuff I found online only goes as far back as 1997.

Can't the fund company provide that info?

This is a good reminder to everyone that you need to keep all those purchase orders and account statements as long as you own the stock or mutual fund shares.

I think it's more complicated than just knowing when you bought in. Dividend reinvestments, for example, change your cost basis.

I agree that inquiring with the fund company is probably the best move.
