i have this through my employer and am contributing to it to their max. my question is i am diversified in it with portions of my contribution going to the different risk sectors.
i am wondering if anyone here else uses or has John hancock for 401k and can give me an idea of where i should put my contribution to be the most bang for the buck.

below is a list of the option i have with an asterisk next to the ones i currently contibute to. if anyone is familiar with these funds and can point me toward a better one to contribute to, it would be appreciated.

Do you have any tickers for those funds?

I would call them and ask them why they don't have them. If they don't have them because they're not actually mutual funds but something set up for your company's 401k then ask them what J Hancock funds they resemble. Also ask them to send you the prospectus of the funds which they have to do.

There are two funds in there I can see that aren't J Hancock funds but American Funds...American Funds Europacific (AEPGX) and American Funds Growth, which I take it is Growth Fund of America (AGTHX). The tickers might be different due to the class of fund you hold. Regardless, they are both very good funds.

Again, get in touch with them and ask about it again and the prospectus and we'll see from there. Also, what does the (VS) stand for at the end of the funds?

          Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum, but the company I work for just started a Safe Harbor 401k with John Hancock. True, they do not publish the stock tickers for their funds; however, when you receive your mutual fund packet it says underneath the title of each fund where the fund is invested. It took me awhile to figure this out after getting frustrated while completing my research.

For instance, "JH Energy Fund" invests solely in Vanguard Energy Fund (Investor Class). You can use this information to find the ticker.

The packet I received is limited to the funds that were chosen for us; however, I believe that I have a much larger packet with more funds in my office from our initial consultation meeting with our broker if anyone needs help.

Thanks Andrew. Sometimes finding a ticker that correlates to some of these funds in 401k's is rough. I know I had to dig around to find something that I could use to track some of mine. It's usually just a matter of difference in the expense ratio which isn't a problem. Making sure that the holdings are the same is the pain.
