  • simple IRA?

    Hi,

My husband is going to open a Simple IRA offered by the company he works for. It is with Vanguard. They will match his contributions up to 3% of his salary. The question I would like to ask is what fund do you suggest we should invest in? I think we are planning on starting out with only one fund because the paperwork seemed to indicate they charge $25 per fund. He is 28 years old.

    Thanks,

    Karen

If you are starting out with one fund you should consider one of their Target Retirement Funds. It's diversified and meant to be a one fund holding. However in the future if you plan on investing in other funds you have to keep track of your asset allocation and make sure you're not holding too much of a certain class or sector.
