Just learned DW has a 403b at work!!

We just learned that DW has access to a 403b plan at work. She's been there for over a year and we never knew about it . She's getting the info today and I will be signing her up as soon as we can. I have no retirement plan at work so up until now we've been limited to our IRAs as our only tax deferred retirement planning. This will help a lot, especially since almost her entire paycheck goes into savings anyway. Now it can go in pre-tax.

Wow, that is great!! We have never had a 401 or 403 to contriubute to. That will help a lot!!

Congratulations -same thing happened to my son at this work - a year wasted. I think they ought to be REQUIRED to tell folks this stuff! Glad she found out about it!! Max that puppy.

If only...

I had access to deposit into a 403B when I was working at a nonprofit. I ws 24. I didn't ever take advantage of it, and I even took my time getting on the 401K bandwagon when I left there and started my next job. But I can't fault them; they all told me about it, I ws just dumb, dumb, dumb.


Alas, I'm trying to make up for it now, but you just can't make up for 9 years worth of interest compounding. At least you're only 1 yr. behind!
