DH and I are working our way to financial freedom. We want to pay of our mortgage (will have done that by end of next week we hope) and reduce our expenses and increase our investments so that we can be financially free. We have no debt (other than one car and the mortgage) and we love the idea of not worrying about paying bills! We love to travel and try to a few times a year. My dream is to wake up in the morning and say "hmmm what would we like to do today?" and not have anything we HAVE to do!

    What are you saving for?

    Thanx

One thing in this life is that you can never get away from bills; oh heck, just the IRS is a pain in the butt until you die. Property taxes, insurances up the wazoo, you've got to repair stuff right? (your health, houses, cars, even luggage)

We didn't really know what we were saving for, but we saved a lot of money because our lifestyle didn't need that much money. But making decent money also helps as I think we spend in absolute $ amount more than most.

But the key is what we did with our savings. If we hadn't do much and didn't get much return, then we'd still be working. This is where our real income comes from once a threshold was passed.

Life is filled with unexpected twists and turns. Here are some reasons why I think it's a good idea to save money....

-Are you in debt? Do you have a student loan? You might want to pay that off and just get it off your back. You can start by saving money.
          -Retirement
-Do you like to travel? Well ,that requires dinero unless you want to sleep next to a drunk 19 year old in a hostel every place you travel and live off one meal a day.
-Being sick or laid off is no fun, but it's even worse when you don't have money during those moments.
-Who knows, you might find something you want to do or purchase that might be very expensive and you never thought about saving that kind of money.

My general answer: Better safe than sorry.

            Savings...

I am trying to save my profits for extension of my business region wide. Hopefully I will achieve my target in 2018.

I am saving every penny for medical bills for this year and then even more for next when I lose COBRA and have to go on an expensive NYS plan to keep my doctors.

                It's not glamorous but
                1) medical issues
                2) replacement of our cars once they die (currently driving a 2001 Toyota and a 2004 Honda).
