Monday is my shopping day. I run my errands, hit the grocery store, pick up the odds and ends on my to-buy list, stop off at the bank and the library.
Sundays are usually my errand days.

34saving, my DH did that yesterday...didn't work. But he did manage to do was cancel a free one month promotional thing that we would normally have forgotten to cancel and would have been charged for. So there's the silver lining.

      Entering day 4...

Ok I'm starting day 6 today! So far the only money spent is for the cat litter! Monday are also easier for me. Since I went to the bank and put my paycheck in on saturday I don't have any cash in my walet, and my rule has always been if there is no cash, then there are no snacks! So no spending for me on monday. I did have a problem and due to a fridge that doesn't cool right I no longer have any of the lettuce that bought last thursday...it all froze! so I'm down to a little fruit left, and quite a few veggies left though. So my diet shouldn't suffer from the challange!

Oh and I ran out of paper towels on saturday. I have plenty of dish towels so I don't really need them yet.

While I have not actually 'entered' I did manage not to spend money yesterday, I thought of you when we left the drs late (regular checkup for UE, 9months, 21lb, healthy) Of course I didn't pack dinner and of course we needed milk..so we were going ot go stop at a cheap restaurant, then head to the store, but instead JC puked on our neighbor riding with us so we went home..not exactly a test of wilpower, but hey, sometimes carsickness can be a blessing .

Today is Day 5. I'm doing just fine. SO, however, probably has about a tablespoon of gasoline left in his car. Maybe should have filled it last week...eh?

I've got my bus pass, my lunch, and my chocolate for the afternoon...I could do this for a while. Until I run out of chocolate, that is.

              Starting day seven...

I've caved on lunch once and the AC for a few hours

THE HEATWAVE is over out here in the west, sorry for those of you it went to. It was so nice to open up all the windows yesterday even after the rain stopped and let in the nice cook breeze. I went to bed with 65 degrees outside. I actaully woke up and had to pull the bedspread over me! It was so nice! No worries about the AC for the rest of the week!

As far a list....um I can try, if I miss you copy the list and then add your name.

I started the challenge yesterday. Mondays are our payday, so I cashed the paycheck, but did not buy anything. My biggest problem will be eating out, cause that is what we do every night. Last night, we rode around looking at property and then cooked out on the grill. So I was able to add that $20 I saved on dinner to my challenge. I don't expect to last more than a day or two, cause dh is going to want to go out to eat!

we have actually done this in the past... we only were paid once a month... and we planned better than we do today for payments, food, etc...............................we had a large freezer back then too... my grandparents always did this... once a month shopping and bill paying.. the only thing they paid weekly were tithes and donations... grandpa was the deacon of the church, he helped out alot of ppl...

                    • I can see what my big temptation will be...

Coffee! I barely have any left--about two tablespoons worth of ground beans. I managed to spill most of what there was on the floor this morning. I'll be adding the ground beans to the used grinds from this morning and trying to make the coffee stretch as long as possible, but I don't know if I'll make it all the way to next Saturday without a fresh infusion! (I need coffee filters, too. The reason I spilled the grounds is that I'm using a nylon tea filter that doesn't fit my coffee maker very well!)

I'm halfway through day 4, which makes it halfway through the challenge! Having one or two no-spending days in a row is not unusual, but having more than 3 is, for me!

Thanks boe, I will do the best I can to make him eat at home. Mark, we use to just get paid once a month too and I remember sometimes having to use two baskets to grocery shop. Boy, did we feel poor that last few days of the month!!

If some of you are reading some of my other posts, please don't think I am talking out of both sides of my face. "All bills paid" are in the rules of my challenge. Just not spending money on things outside of bills if huge for us!

We are doing great! No money spent and DH has agreed to extend the challenge an extra week with the exception of purchasing a birthday gift for his mother this weekend.

Staying home all day is boring, but it makes it easier to not spend money. Kris, I think all bills are paid is part of everyone's rules. We certainly must pay our bills on time and not have late fees added on!

Okay I cheated! 70 cents!!! got chocolate out of the vending machine. I have the End of quarter blues right now and sooooo much pressure to get all my reports 100% accurate.

Ima - I am the opposite of you. Working two full time jobs prevents me from going shopping and spending money. Though I have to admit... I do not cook right now because of my limited time and have been buying frozen entrees... my favorite are heathy choice and on sale I bought them for $2.50 a box. Have my freezer filled with them.

Gruntina, those frozen entrees are at least cheaper and healthier than eating out! Of course doing it yourself would be cheaper, but again, better than eating out.

I'll feel your pain! I'm for the summer and so am not around vending machines, but there have many a day that I have scrounged through my car coming up with change for the darn thing. One of my schools has one that is so outdated, you must have exact change to buy anything. And I don't mean whatever coins add to up to $.65. You must have specifically 2 quarters, 1 dime and 1 nickel. That often keeps me away just because I don't have the right coins!

DH ran out of the house this morning with 2 apples! He's not very good about planning for lunch. He called around 3:30 and I thought for sure he had cheated. I think I would have! But he hadn't, so the boys and I met him half way and brought him lunch. The cost was only that of gas and it was only a 7 minute drive.
