I left the best job I ever had (and loved) because the lady that had been there for over 25 years was so negative. It was depressing to be around her all day!

I left my last job for several reasons:
1. Money (of course). I started at $19,700 full time. After two years, I calculated how long it would take me to reach $25k in my current position, as there was very little room for advancement. It was so depressing I started to look for other options.
2. I decided to pursue another career - real estate sales. I kept my prior job part-time while getting established. I liked the idea of being in control of how much or how little I made, rather than knowing I was stuck at a certain salary until my next raise.
3. I could not stomach the job anymore. It was at a homeless teenage shelter in an inner-city enviroment on a street where there were gangs, guns, and drugs. I was so frustrated with the job that I felt I was no longer effective in it.
I wasn't looking to get back into that field, but an opportunity arose that was part-time, close to where I live, and pays half-time almost what I was making full-time. Now I've got the best of both worlds: stability in a job I like, plus the freedom to make more money selling houses.

I left my Job that I LOVED because I was not treated fairly, I was there for a year and a half and I did not get treated how I should have been treated. Also it was a Split shift and was hard on my daughter and my parents who took care of her before she went to Daycare and in the evenings....the PAY was bad, even after an 'economy' raise. I loved that place though Jerks. Now I make over $1 more and get more time off. : D AND OVERTIME!

i left a job to move home and help my Mom who was sick(she is better now), left one because one of those "hatchet companies" came in to save $, and i was low man on the totem pole, left others for more $, and, of course, i have left with the whole ego driven "kiss my(you know what)". that hasn't happened in a long time though,LOL!!!

I haven't left a job since I have been sober. Prior to that I was never let go from a job but had a lot of drama.

I left my job as a resident counselor with teens in July 2005 to move to a different state with my boyfriend as he was beginning grad school/and so I could apply to different grad schools.

I left my job here as a preschool teacher at the beginning of June 2006 because I was offered a graduate assistantship at the program I was accepted to for my Ed.S. in School Psychology (They pay me hourly as well as pay for 6 credits of tuition each fall and spring).

I'm with Sweeps. It's the only reason why I left.

I would've really liked to hold down both jobs, but alas, I can't be in two places at once.

I have left when I could not handle feeling trapped or like a slave.

I have left when offered more money to do the same job, just a different company.

I have left when I did not feel appreciated.

I left because my boss who I loved retired and got replaced by a MCP who thought I should be at home making dinner for DH. I work in a male dominated field and most of the management felt like my new supervisor. Right before I left they moved a guy into a mid-management position over me (I was told the position didn't exist) who had 3 years to my 14. Mostly I left because I realized nothing good was going to happen there unless I had a sex change.

I work in a male dominated field and most of the management felt like my new supervisor. Right before I left they moved a guy into a mid-management position over me (I was told the position didn't exist) who had 3 years to my 14. Mostly I left because I realized nothing good was going to happen there unless I had a sex change.

I will never understand that kind of mentality. I am fortunate to work for a company that don't discrimate, and upward mobility is based entirely on merit. The way it should be.

The place I am now is good. My boss asked me what he needed to do to keep me and I said continue to treat me like I have a brain and tell me what I am doing right and wrong. There is no upward mobility because I am at the top of my field unless I get a more advanced certificate or masters degree and I see no margin in that since I plan on retiring to a different field in about 8 yrs. The group I work with now is a mix of both sexes and everyone is treated equally.

BTW- I ran my old section for 3 years under the new manager (he didn't have a clue) and when I asked to be promoted I was told there was no section manager position available. I was asked to make up a position descrition for it and then they moved this bozo into it without even interviewing. I had an arbitration in the works when I left that was never followed though on and I was just tired of the whole thing.

One thing I notice about Civil Service is that there are a lot of women, including in the upper ranks. Not all of civil service is wonderful-the underperformer and superachiever will get the same pay and same raises-but in some areas it is nice to see that merit not gender or friendships is what can get someone promoted.

Seven years drama free. Hundred percent clean. It's one of the reasons my posts and blog entries focus on habits. I used to have different habits.
