  • Meds

There is a certain medication I have to take. I usually get samples from the doctor but I guess they've stopped doing it. I called the pharmacy and they said it would be $40. Well, I really didn't have enough so I went a day without it. Needless to say, it was not a pleasant experience. Took bottles back to the store, ramsacked the house for change, and sold some items.
Went to the pharmacy to get my meds and the gut said it was only $20. They had made a mistake.

    One miracle at a time.

Contact Catholic Charities; they administer a program for the various drug companies that provide needed medications at no cost to those who financially qualify for the program.

You can also contact the drug company directly and explain your situation; they have programs where they provide medications to people in need.

You might also ask your doctor if there's another drug that does the same thing that he has samples of, that could also help.

Call your state representative and federal senator and also write them. Tell them of your plight and that will get the ball to rolling. I had similiar problems when I was first diagnosed with MS and my meds ran me $300-$400 a month. The senator, Senator Riegle at that time, helped me and monitored my case so I would get my disability benefits and also my needed medication. There is help out there. We elect them to office, and we must let them know of our needs. Good luck to you!

Harry also let your Dr. know that you can't afford this medicine. It is to expensive. They may be able to start you back up on the samples. Also look up RXassist.org. it is a clearng house for all the prescription help. It save my MIL $700 a month since she doesn't have insurance. They do have prescription card where you may only pay $5

my friend was on a med that was $20 a day, it took several months for his disability to kick in, he also got help from a catholic group. he isnt even catholic. their are groups out there that help. just look. also see if their is an option to get several months at once to not risk the price going up or benefit form getting it in bulk.
