  • Get your birthday freebies

    Yesterday was my birthday. I managed to collect 4 different free things as a result.

    1. Starbucks gives you a free menu item. I stopped by and got a free piece of lemon pound cake, which is about the only thing I ever get from Starbucks since I don't drink coffee.

    2. Panera gives you a free bakery item. We had lunch there and I got a free bear claw pastry, which is my favorite thing there.

    3. The Van Heusen outlet gives you a $10 off $50 purchase coupon. We went over to do some shopping and I bought a few pairs of pants and applied that $10 to my purchase.

    4. We went out to dinner at a small family-owned Mexican restaurant. When the server asked if we wanted dessert, my wife said it was up to me since it was my birthday. As soon as she heard it was my birthday, she said I get a free slice of cake, and she brought out a large slice of tres leches cake that my wife and I split.

    All together, that was about $20 worth of free stuff. Lots of other places do special things on your birthday. You usually need to belong to their rewards program, but signing up is free and you get other specials and discounts throughout the year in addition to the birthday perk.

    I almost forgot about a 5th freebie. The online casino that I play at sent me a $20 bonus. The way bonuses work is that you can't just withdraw them. You have to play through that money. So I went on this morning and played for a bit until I had wagered a total of $20. At that point, I actually had exactly $20 still so I was able to withdraw the full amount in cash.

    That brought my birthday freebies to about $40 in value.

      During your birthday month (doesn't have to be the exact day), Orleans Las Vegas gives a free swipe.

        Landry's has something as well here;

        Landry's Select Club rewards guests for dining at their restaurants and includes Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex Cafe and Yak & Yeti Restaurants at Disney World.

          Benihana $30 birthday certificate, free to join as well. I think you have to spend $30 to get $30. Previously it used to be a free $30 (no spending requirement). It's still a good deal it you like teppanyaki Japanese-style dining.

            Starbucks has gotten really cheap. Before they let you come in any time during the month for your freebie. Now it has to be on the exact day of your birthday.

            Red Robin still gives you a free burger and fries.

              Yes. On the actual birthday for Starbucks. Panera was good for a week. Van Heusen was good all month. The casino bonus just got deposited in my account.
