Did any of you receive incorrect tax-related forms this year? Have any of you who work on taxes for a living noticed an uptick?
Prior to this year, I've received (I think) 2 incorrect forms total. And I've been filing tax returns for 40 years.
But this year alone I received 2 incorrect forms, one from an employer and one from a financial institution. In both cases, they have admitted that they made an error and are working on issuing corrected forms. Not a huge deal, but it did mean a slight delay in finishing my tax return, making some phone calls, and following up to make sure we receive corrected forms. And if I hadn't caught the errors, it might have been a bigger deal since the IRS would have received incorrect information.
I'm hoping that this year was an anomaly.
But my concern is that this may be yet another symptom of a"distracted worker syndrome."
