    Cool.
Don't spend it all in one place.

I'd rather have one of these.

While not as rare as a $1,000 bill, my grandfather had a few $500 bills and let us play with them when we were kids. My sisters were, and still are, nightmares. I'm surprised that they didn't eat the bills when they had the chance.

I would prefer they put into circulation $1000 bills or even $500 bills. When I go to Las Vegas my wallet bulges with $3000 (thirty $100 bills), or more sometimes. Taking just three $1000 bills would be a lot more convenient. Sometimes I wonder how a high roller would take $20,000 or more to Las Vegas.

They don't typically bring cash. They have accounts with the casino and just transfer money back and forth.

James, I take it that $1000 bills have not been printed for a long, long time. That's why the one in your photo is so old? The top edge seems to have crumbled away. Would it have been a silver certificate?

Silver certificates typically have blue ink to indicate them as such.

With inflation I'm surprised that higher denomination currency is no longer printed. A $100 bill isn't what it used to be.

I think it's mainly due to the drug trade and money laundering concerns. The higher denomination bills - $100 bills at this point - are largely used in the criminal trade. $1,000 bills would be beloved by the drug dealers and mafia.

When dana white (president of the ufc) took the palms for $5-$7million in one night...they made him take his money in cash because they were so angry. He had to hire a brinks truck and armed guards to carry it out. That was the last time a ufc event was held at the palms, lol. Wonder how much money they lost from him pulling all ufc events and moving to the mgm at that time?

That's the stupidest thing ever. They should have advertised it 24x7 non-stop how lucky people get at the Palms, and that's where UFC bigwigs go.

They'd have made that money back in a month!!

Watching shows like Perry Mason on MeTV, they are using $1000 and $500 bills all the time. Times have changed though. My hubby had one really high paying job this year after a long drought and with the help of one of our favorite bank tellers helped to set me up. First he handed me $500 in bills which I thought was terrific as that was more than he usually made for that kind of job (at least I thought so). By the time he was done, I had $5000 dollars in cash sitting in front of me. A huge stack, that is for sure. I had never seen and handled that much money in my life, at least not MY money, or I should say OUR money. I think it would have been just as cool to have 5 of those big bills in front of me. Unfortunately that money waved bye-bye way too quick.

My dad worked at a bank in rural Montana and, when the bank celebrated its 50th, they brought in some novelty items like a wheel barrow full of silver dollars and one of those $10,000 bills; I got to hold it. The 10k bills were never released into the wild, they were how banks would balance their books back in the day before computers and such.

(banks would need 2 hours to get ready to open and 2 hours to close at night which is where the idea of "banker's hours" come from - open at 10:00 close at 4:00).
