Prior to this thread being started I already had a Schwab brokerage account so it was no dice for me but I may add this checking account to my existing brokerage account. I like the column on the far right side about travel with confidence which shows "no foreign transaction fees" and "unlimited ATM fee rebates worldwide." Anyone here can expound more about it?

I had a Schwab checking account years back (maybe 2010?) and they had the same policy. They don't charge any of extra fees (that most banks/card companies do) when traveling overseas. No extra fees for making a debit card (or ACH) purchase in a foreign currency (typically 1-3% of the transaction amount), and they refund an unlimited amount of ATM fees regardless of where you are in the world, what company's ATM you're using, or what currency you're pulling out from the ATM. Those ATM fees are charged by the ATM owner, so Schwab can't stop them ... But when your monthly statement closes, Schwab refunds you the amount of any ATM fees that were charged during the month. I was living in Japan at the time I had that account, and it really was extremely useful. Plus, Schwab's customer service is (or at least was) outstanding.

I've heard about this change -- as stated, it's an industry-wide change, and makes alot of sense. I've always wondered/annoyed about why it took so long for trades to settle when everything is handled electronically... Really, most trades should be able to settle within minutes of execution, but I can at least tolerate a 1-day, overnight settlement.
