  • PSA: Discover Card Offering Free Social Security Alert For Cardholders

    PSA for the forums:

Since the Equifax hack and all the media discussions about how to cope with it, I thought some of you guys might benefit from this.

Discover.com is offering a free alert service for Discover cardholders where they will scan the "dark web" for your social security number and monitor your Experian credit report for new accounts and loans. If they find anything suspicious, they will alert you in either case.

This service is offered only to cardholders, so if you don't have a Discover card, you are out of luck.

At this point, I think I'd rather call them on the phone to initiate that.

The Discover Customer service number that worked for me is: 800-347-2683.

I called to verify - the program is legit.
