Want to Help Those Impacted by Hurricane Harvey?

Charity Navigator has a list of 3- and 4-star rated charities assisting those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Don't overlook the smaller, local charities listed in the body of the post. If you live too far away to directly help those impacted, but still want to help, money is what is most needed now and in the long-term. The list of charities on the Charity Navigator web site are ones to consider donating to, if you feel so moved, and if you don't already have a favorite one that you have personally vetted.

You may want to note the following from the Charity Navigator site: "Donors can designate their donations to the cause on the organization's website. However, at this point in time it is not certain that all these organizations will spend 100% of donations received on Hurricane Harvey relief."

Whats the point of donating? Shouldnt Texas be receiving massive amounts of funding from foreign aid? We always bail other countries out after a natural disaster...im guessing they'll come to our aid now no?

(Quite a few foreign countries donated aid after Katrina.)

wow I was watching the satellite tracking of the storm, and they just got pounded. it's almost like a worst case scenario where the storm made landfall and just sat there dumping rain

In 1985, Hurricane Juan did something similar to southern Louisiana, running a figure-8 pattern across the coastal region. Winds not too high, but dumped a ton of water.
