I agree, but airlines created that problem themselves. Years ago, your ticket included your checked bag (and food and drink). Now you pay extra to check luggage so people try to cram everything they possibly can into their carry on to avoid that fee. Also, back then checked bags could be up to 70 pounds. Now you get hit with an extra fee if they are over 40 or 50 pounds max. Add in the fact that most of us travel with a lot more electronics that we don't want in our checked bag anyway.

The FAA thing I first learned about it here from disneysteve. A few hours later then I see it on CNBC. But to be fair to the airlines this FAA grounding is a one-time thing. The Southwest cancellations and delays were more of a nightmare. That said I experience more delays driving from the California Highway Patrol swerving in front of traffic to stop traffic from an accident up a head, or detours from construction on the 405 freeway in Huntington Beach at night having to get off the freeway and using side streets, to amber alerts signals saying accident a head and take the Pacific Coast Highway up ahead, etc. Granted the delays on the roads only take an extra 20 or 30 minutes and not hours or days long delays with airline delays.
