I bought 3 things. I bought a $25.00 gift card for which I would get a $5.00 bonus. I used the GC to buy an item that I needed (but not on sale).
The 3rd item was something I have wanted for a long time, but I felt it was too expensive and decided to wait until it was on sale. It was 50% off, so I bought it.

Got myself an Oculus Rift combo pack a day prior to Prime day. Can't pass it up for only 400 bucks. Time to finally leave this planet suckas!

We knew in June. She selects her fall courses in March but the book list doesn't usually get posted until after the spring semester is over. So by mid June typically.

that's interesting. the school I went to doesn't even register until early august (I think), and you don't find out what books you need until you receive the syllabus. And the professors love changing the books out every year, not sure if theyre getting kickback from the publishing company or something, as the material largely is unchanged year to year.

Another tactic they use to discourage buying used books is including 1 time activation codes that you need to register at a site online where your homework and quizzes are submitted. A used book without the unique code is useless.

Oh yeah I forgot to complain about that. Or the book that had tear out pages for homework making it worthless to be able to sell back too!

We've only encountered that once with her Italian textbook. We had to buy it new, but we were still able to resell it even though the buyer wouldn't get the code.

I'm not a Prime member, so I didn't buy anything on Prime day. If I were a member I probably would have looked at it like I do the big pre-holiday sales ... I would have neither embraced nor shunned it but would have looked to see if I could save money on things I would be buying anyway or an item that has been on my "want list" for a while just waiting for the right deal. For example, I noticed they had things I buy like copier paper and Greenies (dog dental chews) on sale. I didn't do a cost calculation (since I'm not a Prime member) so I don't know if I actually would have bought those things, but I certainly have looked in to it.Why not?
