I went to the library to check out "The Millionaire Next Door". Although it was checked in, it was lost. I went home with Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover".

Although some of the investing stuff is off, I think that book fills the gap you say TMND has. Instead of continually trying to grow your nest egg for the sake of seeing the numbers, the focus is on living frugally now to get a real foundation that can support whatever the heck you want to do.

Personally, I live a very frugal life, but I also bought a loaded $28,000 car (3 years old with only 27k miles) with cash at 25 years old. It is okay to live up life if you can do it debt free without robbing your emergency fund or retirement.
