Bumping this thread for anyone still interested.... The USPS program for emailing photos of your mail is now available nationwide as of today.

I just signed up. I'm getting an error on the final page, but it seems to be working anyway, because I checked in my mail preferences and it shows the program as being active.

Drake, here are 2 listings of relatively cheap condos in the heart of Honolulu (cheap by Hawaii's standards). Note though the small square footage. Also, IDK the how much the HOA fees run. The Ala Moana hotel listing is located next to the Ala Moana shopping center and walking distance to Ala Moana beach park. 97 guns & Rennigade knows this location. Sorry about the side track. Edited to add that LivingAlmostLarge knows these locations as well.

At first I thought it would be annoying with the daily emails but I agree about saving the time to go to the mailbox.

I think this is a great idea for people who have to go some distance to their mailbox or maybe have a PO box at the post office. Not having to go there every day to see if there's any important mail is great.

Personally, our mailbox is right outside our front door. We don't even have to step out of the house. We can just open the door and lean out and get it. So I really see no value in this service for us. I get far too many emails already. I don't need another daily one to give me info that I'm going to get in person when I get home from work (and my wife will see earlier).

          * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
          * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
          * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

You are opening and closing the door. Months that require heating or cooling you are letting the hot or cold air out. Waste of energy, especially if you are opening the door to find an empty mailbox.

If we ever are so destitute that we have to be concerned with how opening the door to get the mail will affect our utility bill, we'll have far bigger things to worry about.

Our mailbox isn't that large so we can't not empty it every day anyway. We never get no mail.

                Destitute? Seriously?

People that are are conscious about wasting energy are destitute?

                Unreal

That wasn't my point at all.

I'm all for conserving energy but it can be taken to unreasonable extremes. If someone is so concerned about it that they won't step out of their house to get the mail, I think they've gone too far.

Every little bit helps, and for some the little bits make a difference. Would I not check my mail because of not wanting the heat/AC to escape? No. But it is frustrating when you do so and the furnace or AC kick on and you find an empty mailbox. An email telling you what mail you are getting actually has value. I suspect you get dozens of emails that don't.

Ugh, I can't get past the online verification!! I'm answering the questions right but I keep having to wait 72 hours to try again!! Then I thought I'll do the in person verification but the post office right around the corner from me doesn't do it, I guess I'll wait the 72 hours and try again.

I froze our credit 5 years ago so we haven't had a loan in 2013 or 2015 like it keeps asking. I might have to keep getting my mail everyday and be surprised.

And yes I'm weird I like to get the mail. Like today I got a $200 refund check because we switched auto insurance companies. It seems like we do periodically get surprised money in the mail

For some reason, this new USPS feature isn't available in Los Angeles.

I cannot get the online verification to work for me! I've answered those questions correctly 3 times having to wait 72 hours between each try. Guess if I want this I have to go to the post office for in person verification. Anyone else having this issue?

Figures the post office by my house isn't a verification spot but the one by my work is so I guess I know what I'm doing for lunch on monday.

I'd also like to see if we could sign father-in-law up for this. He's 80 and I think it would be beneficial if my DH could keep an eye on his mail. Getting DH to take FIL to the post office though, I'm not sure that will happen.

OP, thanks for the heads up!

This will save me lots of trips to the mailbox. I am enjoying the service.

I am loving this service. Get my email in the morning and compare my actual mail to it once it arrives.
