  • Beware 2000 Flushes

This product simply does not deliver on its promise. We were suspicious that these toilet inserts weren't going the distance, so on this last batch we put a tablet next to the toilet and marked every flush. Guess what, after 933 flushes the thing was pretty well toast. WalMart refused a refund as well.

If you buy this deeply discounted it might we worth it, but DO NOT count on it making it to 2000 flushes.

Thank you for doing this important research. I have always felt that I was getting short changed on this item, but never took the time to track it.

On a serious note, beware of drop ins that go directly into the tank and contain bleach. They can eat the rubber flapper and cause a leak. It happened to me

If its yellow, its mellow. If its brown, flush it down

We use those and yes, they do degrade the rubber. More important than the flapper, though, is the filling tube. Our one toilet sounded like it was running all the time. I checked the flapper and it was fine. I finally realized there was a hairline crack in the tube, which I presume was also caused by the bleach. It's an easy fix but was probably premature.

Oh, this is my kind of experiment.

Yeah, probably instead of promoting 2000 Flushes, it should be "Up to 2000 flushes." They really could characterize it based on flow speed, turbulence, water temperature, total volume of water it is exposed to at rest, mineral content of water.... I don't know-- maybe that is all on the label somewhere in the form of a disclaimer.

Write to the maker and pick up a scrub brush.

It could be that for this area, it is 933 flushes. If they put that on the label I would be more apt to buy it.

I am sure they have an unreadable disclaimer somewhere

Maybe your GPF is higher than what they tested on the product?

I use "Iron out" on all my fixtures and in the toilet tank. Never scrub again.

I have never been able to use a product like 2000 Flushes. I have always had a cat that drinks out of the toilet. There always has to be a weird one in the batch.

This reminds me of CFL bulbs that never last. Walmart wouldn't take those back, either.
