Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti explained pictures of himself with others during selfies made public at the 49er's vs Rams game this past weekend not wearing his mask but visibly shown holding his mask said he literally was holding his breath for 2 seconds so he knows he won't contract COVID, wait what (lol)?

Well, that might actually prevent you from spreading it to others. If you're not releasing any respiratory droplets, you're not spreading virus particles. If won't, however, prevent you from catching something since droplets could still enter your nose, although I suppose it's less likely if you aren't inhaling.

Still, a pretty weak excuse. Just keep the damn mask on. It's not that complicated. If you're indoors with other people, wear a mask. If you're outdoors in close proximity to other people, wear a mask.

I’ve been on the job hunt. The kind of work I do can be done remotely. Before Covid, most teams in my space were doing maybe 1, sometimes 2 days per week remote, or at one of our other facilities.

All work I’ve applied for, same positions as before, are now fully remote. I think I’m up for one of them. I will be totally elated if I don’t ever have to set foot in an office regularly again. It has done wonders for my well-being. Fingers crossed…

My daughter is job hunting currently and is applying for all remote jobs. There are a lot of them out there. She's had a couple of interviews but hasn't gotten hired yet. Hopefully soon.

Interesting, those are totally different from what we received a few days ago. Comparable obviously, and given the volume, they obviously would have contracted with many companies to fulfill the requirement. But nice to have a few tests readily available if/when needed.

QuarterMillionMan, look at how soon those tests expire. I knew they had fairly short shelf life, but I would have thought at least 6 months. I wonder if this company has provided their older stock.

I don't know why they bother with those according to our govt they have a 35% chance of failing...I know a couple of people who took 3 of these all come back negative..they went and got an pcr test and it came back negative...I don't trust them

The medical community, governments, and media have failed to educate the public about proper use and understanding of rapid tests.

They are extremely accurate and dependable IF you test positive. That means you have COVID. No further testing is needed. You don’t need to go for a PCR. A positive rapid is a positive.

A negative rapid tells you nothing. It doesn’t mean you’re COVID free. It doesn’t mean you’re not contagious. It doesn’t mean it’s safe to go out or be around people or go to a concert or a cruise or a wedding.

Requiring a rapid test to attend an event or board a cruise is almost as much of a waste as taking people’s temperature before they enter.

A negative rapid test can be very useful in two circumstances. It tells you, with 80-100% certainty, that you are currently not infectious. It doesn't tell you that you are not infected. So use #1: If you test negative, you can reasonably trust that you are not going to infect someone else for the next ~1/2 day. Use #2: If you are infected, you can test using rapid tests to when you are no longer infectious (and shouldn't be again for this infection).

DS is right- rapid testing (or any testing) before going a cruise is useless.

The instructions are not written on the box rather it says to go online which not everyone has access to the internet. But at least it's made in the USA. Some people I know got made in China (lol).

Wow. That's a major fail. How can you send out a medical test without including instructions. We haven't gotten ours yet. I'll try to remember to post if ours are the same way.

Just to be clear, that says ONE HALF day, correct? Not 1-2 days. So you're talking about a matter of hours. You could literally test negative in the morning and positive that very same evening.

I scanned the QR code which took me to their website but now it requires that I download their app which I was hesitant to do but reluctantly did it because no instructions were given on their website. Now the app requires that I create an account with an 8 letter & symbol password with 1 uppercase letter and 1 symbol. I stopped and didn't create an account. Instead I'm debating on selling my tests on eBay.

Wow. This is insane. Completely irresponsible. If I bought one of these kits at CVS only to get home and find no instructions, I'd be returning it.
