Timeshare point system a good value to the right family?

We own DVC, I can't say it was a good financial investment but it definitely is a good "family time" investment. During my recent divorce settlement, my ex and I agreed that instead of selling, we keep DVC and alternate the annual dues and usage.

My parents have WorldMark (I think the same as Wyndham) and love it. Though, I would question the amount of points you buy and the yearly fee. They have 20,000 points and pay about $1400 a year in maintenance fees.
