I was named co-successor trustee to my parents trust, in California. My step-sister who lives in Oregon was the other trustee.
It was a hassle--she had to drive down to California twice and the real estate agent actually drove the closing documents to Oregon for her signatures. Other documents I just signed as successor trustee without mentioning her (with her full approval) so she wouldn't have to keep making trips.
