    You don't need a notary for that. I've done a number of transactions recently - some rather large - where I had to provide a photograph of two forms of ID. I just emailed it to whoever and we went on from there with documents signed electronically.

      Honestly, selling the house wasn't emotional for me. What was very hard was leaving the house for the last time. In my mind, the house ceased belonging to us when we turned out the lights and locked the door knowing we'd never be back. Plus we had already accepted the offer at that point so it was essentially already sold. Settlement was just a formality.

        I can only imagine the feelings of immense gratitude that disneysteve must have towards his very generous deceased cousin. I've never been the beneficiary. Actually, I experienced the opposite when an uncle died who had enormous debt. I was not responsible for his estate but I helped to make phone calls and write letters to the creditors to inform them of his passing and it was a very stressful ordeal. Prior to his passing I thought highly of this uncle. After his passing I told myself that I would never want to burden anyone like that. It was so stressful.
