  • Debating to get either a roll of Franklins or Walking Liberty half dollars. Franklins are newer 1948 - 1964 and thus have more of its composition with less wear & tear. Compared to Walking Liberties with production dates of 1916 - 1946 which are more worn out having lived longer so to speak and usually weighs less than Franklins due to its wear & tear. And dirtier & filthier as well due to its age.

Yeah, I'd say that if your positions have doubled+ in value over such a short period of time, I'd call it foolish NOT to sell & at least reap your cost basis to preserve value in the event of a future drop. You'd be able to take that cash & diversify it elsewhere, while retaining your investment in the silver.

Still not my game ... but to each his own.

          • James, HODL precious metals & cryptos. These are real world assets (RWA). Paper currencies (ie, Euros, Yen, Pesos, dollars, etc) aren't worth the paper they are printed on. When the reset happens, you'll wish that you had not sold your silver. Today I bought $500 of XRP.

              • Man QMM, its just so wild. I mean I never thought I'd see dollars so relatively weak and precious metals so valuable. They were always something you'd have in your portfolio...but at no more than 5% of your total wealth.

Its amazing so see the growth of silver outpace a lot of stocks.

                • These are the melt values from 35% war nickels = $5, to Morgan & Peace dollars = $70. I've been stacking decades ago when the Feds began Quantitative easing (printing money like it grew on trees), which I knew was not sustainable.

                    • I have a precious metals Roth IRA, and a crypto Roth IRA, where every year I alternate my contributions putting in the max allowed by the IRS. My allocation in precious metals is about 25% of my net worth. I follow Peter Schiff's & Robert Kiyosaki's school of thought that gold/silver is God's money or a real world asset. I do not trust men who keeps moving the goal post and keep kicking the can down the road.

                          • Geeze--even when the Hunt brothers were manipulating the silver market I believe it only ever got up to around $50....

Do they use a lot of silver in data centers or something?

                            • QuarterMillionMan are you tracking this? The price of silver is still above $90. That's a lifetime high.

                              • Yes James, I'm still buying silver at $90. I was about to place this order for 1 SAE random year at below spot price. SAEs' normally sell for $7 above spot. But w/$12 shipping and $9 in California tax, I removed the item. I would rather pay $7 above spot at other dealers which does not add tax (don't ask me which dealers because you'd have to do your own homework) and have free shipping with orders above $199 or $299, etc.
