flying to Florida on vs off Easter week

Just wanted to share this; I just bought my family's flights to Florida. We fly every spring and we always pull our DD out of school because the cost difference is usually significant, but this year is insane!

We take off around 6pm, flying Wed-Wed in early April for $209 for each round trip ticket. Just for fun I checked how much it would cost to get direct flights around the same time of day, arriving the day before Easter, flying home the Sunday after Easter, it was $1,078.90 for one ticket.

Traveling off peak <-- that's one of the things we missed after our kid started school.

We used to go to HI during Thanksgiving holidays when things are cheap and beaches are less crowded. Now we have to go during Christmas when everything is expensive and full of people.

the other thing we missed was spontaneous travel, when we just decide to go somewhere (sometimes becaue of very cheap flights).
