  • Any odd/superstitious things for new year?

Do you do anything out of the ordinary to bring in the new year for finance related things...or any things for that matter?

I probably said this before but my grandmother used to put a nickel in her windowsill to bring in the new year. After a year she'll remove it and replace it with another one. My mom did the same thing and now my sister and I do it. She claimed its good luck.

I know a lot of people eat sauerkraut and pork on new years day for whatever reason...we also do this. But we also eat that a couple times throughout the year simply for the fact that we like the taste.

No superstitions here. It's always amusing how many people still believe in that sort of thing.

I didn't realize there were any... I just stay up late playing games with people then make a racket at the stroke of midnight.

We used to pour molten lead in a bucket, and then speculate what the shapes meant as a prediction for the new year. We also had real candles on our Christmas tree.

Crazy now that I look back.
