  • Converting Amazon Cards/Credit To Stock

Here is a question for the group.

I sometimes get Amazon giftcards (by doing rewards programs, or as holiday gifts, etc.). Has anyone on the board figured out a way to convert these to stocks or bonds? I'd frankly prefer equity to most of the junk that's available on the site.

Use the gift cards to buy things that you would normally buy anyway, and use the cash you saved to invest. Amazon sells nearly everything from food to clothing to electronics to household items to magazine subscriptions and much more. Surely you can find stuff to order that you would be spending money on anyway and then put the cash you didn't spend toward your investing.

I agree with DisneySteve. They often have good deals on groceries too or toiletries basics. That’s typically what I spend our Amazon gift cards if there’s not a large purchase (like electronics) we need.

Oh we buy nearly everything on Amazon. About an hour ago I ordered light bulbs and printer ink for my daughter. I just looked and that was our 6th order this month. We ordered 4 items in April and 8 in March. It's pretty rare for a week to go by without us placing at least one Amazon order. They sell virtually everything and almost always at the best price around.

It's super-convenient, and sometimes that's worth the cost, but I always shop around for anything beyond $50. Food is cheaper at Walmart, my new PC was cheaper at NewEgg, and Dell had the keyboard/mouse combo I wanted (it seems Amazon just had flashy gamer stuff).
