So nothing huge and profitable, but maybe could have sold $50 tickets for $75 or $100 because they were hard to get.
I've done the opposite of you: I've bought tickets and resold for less. But, I've also bought tickets at less too (from people in similar situations).

I can count the number of times on one hand, but yes, I've paid more than face value.

I love this. I go online. I check the seating chart. I select and purchase the tickets. I pay for the tickets. I print the tickets out at home. They charge me a "convenience" fee after I do all of the work. I should be charging them the fee.

I have paid over face value to see my favorite football team. To me it sucks to pay up for tickets, but I understand its a supply and demand thing and I am willing to pay to go.

My neighbor is a season ticket holder to the Cubs. He sold his pair of tickets for game 3 for 6K, Game 4 for 7K, and game 5 for $1850.

Me too, and I go to maybe one event per year, usually a low-key one. This year my event is seeing the Bolshoi Ballet perform the Nutcracker via "Bolshoi Ballet Cinema." Last year I saw Hamlet via "National Theatre Live." (I'm sure some wouldn't consider those events. But to me they are.)

In 2017 I am going to one professional sporting event, and that one is very popular and won't be at all low-key, but I purchased the tickets during the pre-sale window (4 months in advance). Had I waited I probably would have had to choose between not going or paying above face value and I would have chosen not going.

If I were a lifelong fan of a professional sports team, I definitely could see myself paying above face value to see them in a championship game one time if that were on my bucket list.

I bought tickets on stubhub to game 7 of the World Series! It was worth every penny. Go CUBS! (I am a very frugal person in most instances; this allows me to be stupid with my money once in awhile.)
