How about a GIF of Homer eating one?

I will buy the Meijer and Kirkland brands a lot. I haven't found decent toaster strudels that aren't brand name yet. And my family can gobble up an entire jar of Mt Olive baby kosher dills in a day but other brands just sit there.

As for clothing, I used to buy certain brands because of quality. I bought a Coach purse in 2007, used it every day, and just replaced it last month. Now everything looks like plastic junk. Now I pay more attention to the fit, materials, and construction more than the name because there is a lot of junk out there, even with the premium names.

It was my hope to post about this Store Brand find in the "Post Your Wins" thread. At the time of purchase, that is exactly how I felt about it.

The product: My DW's hairspray! Even when it goes on sale, there is usually limited quantity available so we can't stock up on it.

So last night I was walking through Walmart and stumbled upon a display of their NEW Great Value hairspray. It caught my eye because the bottle was near identical. I picked one up and quickly noticed the "compare to" reference to the one my DW uses. I bought a bottle for less than half of what we paid the day before for her national brand. My DW was excited when she saw it cause she would love to find a lower priced option for a product she uses daily.

She just informed me that the product does not compare and the smell was awful.

And that's why sometimes the name brand is more expensive.

I'm actually about to start a new thread about when a bargain isn't a bargain. This story would fit perfectly there.

We shop at these places only

http://www.longhornmeatco.com/ <--Locally owned butcher shop accepts only farmers who do not use hormones or butcher inhumanely

http://foothillrootsfarm.com <--- locally owned by a young hippy couple. Huge Gardens of organic vegetables & fruits

https://sunrisenaturalfoods.net <-- locally owned Health Food Store. The family has 3 local stores

My company gives us a free pass to Costco so if we are down in the big city, we will buy some items in bulk-cat food, tp, paper towels, vitamins, cheese, oatmeal & yogurt.

What I buy is not cheap and I stick to mostly expensive brands BUT... overall the ingredients used in our meals is known as being inexpensive. And we like to support Mom & Pop businesses. They also tend to have more food products which are individually owned smaller companies and not large corporations. So the dollars go further to support many individual families who live locally. Keeps the dollars local too.

I do alot of crockpot cooking-soups, chili, pinto beans w/ham hock, spaghetti, juicing organic vegetables.

              .
