    Have: 1800
    Want: 300
    Need: 200

Roughly speaking. The extra 100 sq/ft is just in case I decide that I want space for working out, or perhaps even a VR room if that ever takes off enough.... Could also be a small screened-in porch too, for sipping hot chocolate or a cool tea while enjoying some backyard nature. That would be cool. Nothing that I actually need though. Just would be nice.

I currently don't have plans to stay in this house of mine any longer than I have to, but we'll see how it goes....

We have about 990 square feet, plus a cellar suitable only for storage, laundry, and a bit of seed starting & overwintering of potted plants. But that cellar space is a huge help. I'd like to have larger common rooms--the living room, combo dining & office, the kitchen. Even our small hallway would be better if it were wider. If I could push out the walls I'd like to have another 150 square feet, a modest desire, I think. But it would make the house a lot more comfortable, especially when we have guests. The place does feel claustrophobic when we have visitors.

So, I'd like around 1140 sq feet.

Need? For our lifestyle I do think we need what we have. If we did not garden, preserve food, cook mostly at home, and read actual paper books, then we could get by with less.
