Nah, it's all good. Even though the Nexuses are suppose to be on the way out, they are still going to get the latest OS updates (Nougat 7.1), and I believe at least two more years of full support. I would never have thought of calling Nougat's OS experience as transcendental, but it's amazing what it is capable of now.
For example, I've used an app called Advanced Task Killer for a very long time now. Its purpose is to eliminate the apps that run in the background, usually without your realizing or perhaps even consent, and in the process, cause unnecessarily high battery drain.
After installing that to this Nexus phone, ATK would come up with literally ZERO number of apps to remove. That is to say, there were no extraneous apps running without my knowing or consent.
It was such a shocking experience. I eventually deleted ATK... but in the best way possible in that I actualy no longer had a need for it.
Another example is how I used to customize my own launcher with the excellent Nova Launcher. It's a great app that at least helps me hide all the bloat, but because stock Nougat was so clean to begin with, all the while offering basically everything that I am asking for... I have also not installed that app. Again, a pleasant surprise.
Also, a seamless addition of split-screen functionality baked right into the OS.
It's just such an amazing experience. I wish I had transitioned to Fi and Nexus 6P sooner, but then again, that would have costed so much, I would not have considered it at the time.
