  • Do you know Raya, will you be getting it beginning March 5?

Raya and the Last Dragon | Official Trailer | Disney Video

I didn't even know Raya until I saw the trailer on ESPN. Looks good and I'll pay the $29.99 for premier access beginning March 5? Are you getting it?

I haven't watched the trailer though I've seen some ads that I haven't paid attention to. No, I certainly won't pay $30 to see it. If we want to see it, I'll wait until it's released for general viewing. We didn't pay for Mulan either (which we still haven't watched).

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

They got me at Mulan too. I share my access code with my nieces & nephew so it's worth it to me. I wouldn't get it if it wasn't for them.

This is my plan too. It looks interesting, but I'm not gonna pay $30 to see it a few months early.

$30 really isn't bad at all if multiple people will be viewing it. There are only 3 of us, but even then $30 to all see a brand new movie isn't awful. If it was something we really were excited about seeing we'd consider it, but that wasn't true for Mulan or for Raya.

We do pay to stream a movie now and then but it's usually in the $3-5 range.

I suppose that's a valid point... I've just never been huge into seeing movies on opening night. Most of the time, I don't even know what's new/coming out.

DS, I think you hit on the big issue -- other platforms allow you to rent a new movie for a few bucks. $30 is common in a theater setting, but at home, $5 is average...$8 is spendy. $30? Outrageous.

The movies that are just a few dollars aren't generally brand new, though, so it's not necessarily an equal comparison. The pandemic has really altered the whole movie release system in ways that will continue to be felt from now on. I just read an article this morning about studios debating how long to keep new movies in the theater only before releasing them to the streaming services.

A first-run movie ticket is $10 or more in many areas so us spending $30 for the 3 of us wouldn't be unreasonable. Plus we'd be in the comfort of our own home and could make our own popcorn for a few cents rather than pay $10 for the movie popcorn.

With Disney+, you can have up to 10 devices on your account. I know plenty of people who share their accounts with others, so that factors in too. I'd pay $30 if there were 5 or 6 or more people who were going to watch that movie (especially if a few of them chipped in).

I would like to see this, but I think I will wait to watch. I love Awkwafina--but, I would be the only one watching it. I am just too cheap to spend $30.00 to watch a movie on my smallish TV screen.

Question for rennigade, with seedbox can you watch live UFC pay per view fights? I understand if you aren't able to answer which is fine.

I had to Google that. I'm assuming that folks use them to share files that maybe they don't have the rights to, like when we used to use Napster or LimeWire to download music.

No, unfortunately you cant watch things live. You would have to download the fights the next day when people upload them to torrent sites. Ive heard of being able to watch it live streamed for free...im just not in the loop on that so im not entirely sure where to go. Although im sure anyone could find out in a few minutes if they really wanted to know.

Sort of. A seedbox is just rented space on a server where you can download things to. Torrent sites are where you go to find the things you want to download...movies, music, software, games, etc. Once you have the torrent file, you go to your seedbox and start the download process. When the file is downloaded to the seedbox...you can then start the process of downloading the movie to your home machine. There are several ways to do it but I use filezilla, and transfer it via secure ftp...which is encrypted. Its a simple quick process once you've done it a few times.

And yes, I will be snagging this Raya movie when its released. Thats one benefit im looking forward to with these studios releasing movies directly to their streaming service. No longer have to wait for blu ray release for someone to upload a high definition copy.
