its something that ive always done since i started investing and even before becoming an investor my mind was constantly churning on how to make money, i know ive spent many hours in deep thought on the subject of money and making it. its something a lot of pro atheletes do before competition. the baseball player will envision the whole game in his head, from his at bats with a certain pitcher to running the basepaths, many football players will do the same and i think it can apply to investing and planning life in general.

Meditation.
I do that when I enter into competitions; I'd meditate to relax and calm my nerves, then I'd think thru my strategy or just rest up. I've been doing it since high school.
I think meditation is one of the best things I have ever learned. I started by just closing my eyes an resting (maybe thinking about strategy but mostly just resting, i.e. the 5min power nap). Then I met a few monks and learned more (I don't agree with everything they teach so I rejected some). Now, I get more out of meditation (it is more than rest, you can channel energy and focus, i.e. kind of like the 5-min power nap except much better, kind of similar to your description).
But, I don't think I've ever used on it investing.
I do a lot of research before I invest. Sometimes, I have to spend a lot of time just learning how to research (i.e. what info is located where and even more fundamentally, what info is needed). I think research skills (which included running projections too) is more important than meditation when it comes to investing for me because most my investments are long term and once major changes are done, I don't make moves until certain pre-determined conditions are triggered. So there's no need for the level of concentration that requires meditiation for me.
