There may come a time where "want" and "need" aren't all that different any more. At this time, you'll not really want anything; but it you do, whatever material items you want, you can afford without much issue.

Once you save enough to buy the printing press, life is so much easier.

While I understand you will not suffer financial consequences I hope you've reviewed the pros and cons of your desire for different car. Are you merely tired of of your 19 y/o vehicle with 49,000. miles?
You want a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and buy cars new, preferring to take the entire depreciation in spite of modest annual mileage.. Since you've been considering this model/type for 3 years, would you consider one that was 2 y/o with some depreciation?
While 10 year old tires can develop problems due to age, the tread is likely ok for a vehicle to be sold by spring. Since a back up camera seems important to you, why not have an after sale type installed? It's not very expensive and experience will confirm it's value to you. Cost is likely less than even one new tire.Last edited by snafu; 09-30-2016, 07:10 PM.

No, I don't buy used cars. I spent my entire career dealing with the auto industry and both car dealers and private sellers who did amazingly illegal things just to make a profit. I don't trust anything short of a brand new car and I still check all the VIN's myself before I purchase it.

I am surprised at how little we use our backup camera. Sometimes I use it to see if we're correctly positioned in a parking spot. And by the same token, I'm shocked at just how much I rely on the side cameras (the ones mounted on the side mirrors), but that's probably because the car is built in such a way that it has a large blind spot there.

* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

good job at resisting!
when I have new car fever, I use a Groupon for car detailing done at my house (my own vacuum does not lift the dog hair off the cloth seats). They shampoo everything, scrub it clean and give it a wax, it feels like new again for $70
