      I've wondered why all gas stations even offer premium. Seems like a specialty item.

      Maybe there are more people buying it than are represented here at savingadvice.

        Absolutely. I've encountered a lot of people who are totally convinced that premium is "better" no matter what the manufacturer says. I mean it's more expensive, so it must be better, right? None of these people could give any logical reason why they use premium. They just do.

          Thank you for this interesting discussion on premium vs regular gas. As a consumer who just never understood the difference, [bought regular as suggested in manual], I appreciate the explanation and viewpoints.

            No.

            My truck has a 6.2 in it. If I want to get the full 405 hp, then I need to run premium. But regular works just fine.

              When it comes to premium gas my vehicle only sees the occasional after season dumping of unmixed excess ethanol free premium gas earmarked for power equipment which usually amounts to a fractional gallon.
