I can see it now. Headline. "Parents all over the US are forgetting they have children and leaving them in the cart since they never have to look at them while shopping."

One mother reported: "I unloaded the groceries and the cart just drove off, so I thought I had everything." She realized the car was unusually quiet while tweeting " how great the experience was" on her new phone that she stated "would never leave my side."

This is America, yes I think this is possible.

Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices.

we are definitely moving towards a robotic/automated society, ive seen articles about automated check out at grocery stores where you just push the full cart through an airport metal detector looking thing and it instantly rings up the entire contents of the cart

if you think about it we have seen a lot of jobs going robotic/automated in just the past 3-5 years

Eww that would be cool. I hate waiting in line to be checked out. But makes me sad for the job losses. We need another industrial revolution to get people working. What's going to happen to our society if all the jobs keep going

It might save you time in paying for it, but it still has to be bagged up which will make you hold up the line. Not sure this really helps a lot. like going to a low-end grocery store that makes you bag your own groceries(We used to have one here). You still have to wait in line for people to get done. The only way this helps if you are bagging as you shop.

If they have a set up like Aldi, then it would work just fine. If you aren't familiar with Aldi, the cashier scans your items and puts them into a shopping cart. You then push your cart over to a longer counter to bag (or box) your groceries. I absolutely LOVE shopping at Aldi.

The first time I shopped at Aldi, I arrived at the checkout to find a line of 4 or 5 people with LOADED shopping carts. Of course I moaned to myself thinking this is going to suck. A couple minutes later I was boxing my groceries at the counter. Bagging groceries at the checkout slows down the process regardless if it is an employee (often a high school kid that moves like a zombie) or a customer.
