So, if you don't hear from me after today It was nice being part of the site!

I can't believe we are in a state of emergency and I had to come into work because the warehouse was still open today until at least 12....with a hurricane coming right over us around 1-2pm. SMH

Ugh. Employers can be complete idiots about this stuff. On 9/11, it took my employer three hours after the first plane hit before deciding to let employees go home. Employees working in a skyscraper!

    Stay safe!!

My dad is driving home to Leesburg, FL from NY and stopped at a hotel about 5 hours North of Leesburg last night. He's pulling a trailer/boat as well - I told him to hunker down, possibly for a couple days- bad timing!

        Stay safe, everyone.

We'll get hit by it tomorrow some time but shouldn't be full force. The forecast is for it to stay off the coast so probably just sustained rain and some heavy winds.

The only bad thing is we have to move DD back to school tomorrow. I'm hoping it doesn't get bad until after we have that done.

We are getting about 5 inches of rain as a result. School let out two hours early. So far it seems we are far enough west to avoid any major impact. Flash flooding will be the biggest threat.

We appear to be out of the worst of it now, thankfully. No major damage reported yet that i konw of for our area. Flordia, on the other hand, was hit pretty hard.

All of this. Please be safe, and be smart.... Don't freak out & raid the supermarkets, and don't try to outrun the storm. Hunker down, and it'll be fine.

As DS said, it's most likely just going to be a very wet, windy storm. When storms like that cross over land and stay there, it very quickly starts to deteriorate & weaken, because hurricanes feed on warm ocean waters.
