Last year we discovered the local "Buy Nothing" group for our town on Facebook. While we have yet to either give or take anything from the group, I have to say I am really blown away by the stuff people give away. Lots of low end junk like planters and broken bikes and leftover materials from home reno jobs but also a ton of really quality items, stuff that they could very easily sell on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist and get decent money for. Just today, two different people listed Little Tykes playset items, for example. We don't have a little kid but if we did, I would have grabbed those in a second. A lot of things get listed that are brand new, still with the tags on them. Either they got them as gifts or bought them and never used them.
I did respond to someone the other day who was looking for a shelving unit but the one I had wasn't the type she was seeking. I'll probably just post it to see if anyone else would like it. In fact, I have a week off later this month and I'm planning to list a number of items on there since I'll be free all week for people to come get them. Most of it was going to go to Goodwill anyway so if I can find a good home for this stuff, that's good too.
