I agree. Still, you should have attributed your idea to the other thread.

$2,772 following a hailstorm last year that resulted in our house needing a new roof, gutters, windows, screens, and all painted surfaces re-painted.

Net damage was actually a bit less because once the new roof was put on our homeowner's insurance premium went down.

It was a general question and not a copy and paste. I don't recall seeing this topic recently so it's a welcome discussion. You don't need to cite sources for your questions.

I don't have too many emergencies because I am pessimistic and underestimate my income and overestimate my expenses so I am usually well prepared.

However, about two years ago I went off the road getting to work for 4am in the middle of a snowstorm. I was very familiar with the road but was going a bit too fast and didn't see the turn until it was too late. I might have been able to make it, but I chose to head a snowbank instead of risk a broadside collision. Deductible was $1,000 and I have not had an accident since. Now I give myself plenty of time to get to work and I realize that no job is worth risking your car or life for.

Edit: Forgot to add that the song on the radio was Fly Like an Eagle. It almost happened in slow motion. I have never listened to that song since.

I remember maybe 5-6 years ago, I backed out my garage accidentally when it was not completely open-- on the way to pick up our dinner from Pizza Hut. The replacement cost was around $650 + $25 pizza. Safe to say, it was a expensive dinner, Alright!

What is your most expensive "emergency"?

I'm not talking about replacing your AC that you already knew it needed replacement or an upcoming home renovation. I'm talking real emergency.
Did you use a coupon for the pizza I hope?

I talked to the vet and the police. They wouldn't do anything because I didn't have proof, even though I knew the nasty piece of work that did it. So I invited a bunch of people over one night (because I knew she would spy on us) and announced in a loud voice that I knew who did it and plans are already in place to make her life a living hell, starting with burning her house down. She had her house on the market 2 days later. I know she took a loss on it, and the new neighbors ruined the lawn she was obsessed about. Not that it makes up for losing my pets, but at least she got something.

              Well that's good at least!

Mine was my teeth. I waited too long and almost had serious issues. I did have root canal and two crowns a few fillings. Glad that's over. It was a bout 3K or so.
