As for my results at Harrah's San Diego, I ended up losing about $100. I only got small wins of $25 and $30 on some keno machines. When it comes to gambling for me I go and I go often. Maybe twice monthly to my locals casino and maybe once every 2 months to Las Vegas. The drive to Las Vegas from Los Angeles is 300 miles and quite tortuous for me. I know a lot of people who drive 300 miles without a problem but I hate driving that long of a distance. I rather fly but airfare can be costly. Maybe when I retire I might move there.

LV is not a bad place to retire to. I used to think it's a terrible place to retire to, but my parents retired there since 96 and I'm coming around to accept that it isn't too bad. I personally won't retire there, but lots of old folks seems to like it there. No income tax; education bonds NEVER pass (too many old people w/o kids), lots of hospitals and entertainment. As long as you don't lose all your money I guess.

I found myself in Vegas at the tail end of a trip on Labor Day weekend a couple years ago. I don't think I'll visit during a holiday again. The crowds of drunken people were entirely too much for me.

Had lots of fun hiking majestic Muir Woods...I'm always amazed about tall Redwoods. Afterwards we chilled in Rodeo Beach. Beautiful day weekend!

I'm off work for few days next week for our 13th year anniversary. We booked bnd Mendocino/Sonoma area for 3 days without the kids.

          Phantom,
I experienced exactly what you experienced. We also came during the labor day weekend to Vegas. We decided not to ever visit Vegas during holidays again, Ever!
