  • Wallet loss/theft contingency plan

Yesterday, I attended a wedding, and in typical weirdness I left my wallet on the front seat of my vehicle parked several blocks away downtown. I did not realize this until after the wedding ceremony.

While I made my "brisk walk" back to my parked truck I had to wonder what all I had in my wallet in case it may have fell out of the back pocket of my suit on the sidewalk. I didn't have any cash in it, but I did have plastic and ID, and other cards in the side pockets.

Fortunately, my wallet was still sitting there on the front passenger seat.

Does anyone here have a wallet or purse loss/theft contingency plan?? I wasn't 100% certain what I needed to do besides cancel the plastic cards.

Do you keep an inventory of what you have in your wallet or purse?

Any suggestions or recommendations are appreciated!

I read to photocopy the back and front of everything in your wallet so you can call companies quickly and not miss any. I haven't done this in years, I will now because I have cards I don't use and I wouldn't remember what they are.

    glad you found your wallet

I keep two wallets all the time - one is a back-up for when I lose the primary wallet, but it is well equipped with its own drivers license and a credit card.

It's when I misplace the backup that I'm in deep dookie.

Good SAers only have -- at most -- one CC on them at any time, so there's not too many places to contact:
          • DMV,
          • CC bank,
          • DC bank,
          • Insurance company for a new card.

Since I already have those numbers recorded in various spreadsheets, no need for photocopies.

I just challenged myself to think of what is in my wallet. I remembered 4/6 items, forgetting my health insurance card and a gift card. I have saved numbers for everything.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to do a listing of all the stuff I keep in my wallet/purse (cc & gc are stored in zip pouches Not wallet).

I take photocopy of each and every document I have in case anything goes missing!
