came in under budget of $500 a little bit. That's $100 to each teen in gifts, between $30-50 for 4 adults, then hostess gifts and small tokens of appreciation for all the friends and family who have helped us this year.
Going to aim for $400 this year because I had the time to scour the net and get great deals so when I gave the kids and my family gifts it looked like way more than usual. And I got gifts like 6 pr of touchscreen gloves for $10, 4 prs of earmuffs for $8, and I hit beautifully made $5 potholder sets in modern patterns that then went back up to $18, so giving small gifts came in really cheap but didn't look too cheap. people loved the potholder sets and touchscreen gloves.
I realized if the gifts for the adults or the kids looked like a lot more than I usually spend, then I don't need to spend that much next year. Just because I budgeted the kids at $100, I didn't have to actually spend that much if the gifts were worth more.
I spent quite a bit this year, but it was the first year my fiancé and I have been able to do Christmas in quite some time. We were working college students up until a few months ago, and both have great jobs now and no substantial bills (yet), so we decided to go "all out" this Christmas. I would say, with my cousin, her daughter, two aunts, gifts for everyone's parents (and my step parents), our siblings (I have four, he has three), a few friend gifts here and there and each other, we probably spent around $2,000 this Christmas. However, it won't likely be like that ever again.
We've kicked our budgeting and saving back into high gear so that we can have the wedding, save for a house, etc.
