I'm probably going to buy a Groupon today. Between their sale and Rakuten's deal, it makes it pretty cheap.

The laptop I've been looking at is on sale $100 off with Amazon's Cyber Monday deals, about the lowest I've seen it... Tempted, undecided, asking DW what she thinks. Let it be her choice.

Everyone that I know pretty much has everything.
They have Amazon wish lists, but it's all pretty niche stuff.
So, no real black friday deals to be had on it.
Free shipping is about all that I'm going to score this year

Do you use Rakuten? It is a shopping portal that gives you cash back on every purchase as long as you shop through their portal. So even if an item isn't on sale, you can still get the cash back deal. I got 8% back on the Groupon I bought today, for example. For Cyber Monday, they have a number of stores that have 20% cash back.

I had an interesting conversation with my brother in law this year. He president of a kitchenware retailer here in Portland, Oregon. What he is saying is that black friday type deals will realistically be extended through the Christmas shopping season. This is based on the retailer price emails he's seeing from the product reps he deals with. The reason is that the post thanksgiving shopping season has been compressed by a week this year, so retailers have less time to turn a profit.

            Whats hot this year are:

            1. Instapot type appliances

            2. Good quality kitchen knives

It used to be called Ebates. I just looked at my account and since I signed up about a year ago, I've earned $67.79 cash back and I don't do much online shopping.

They do also have some in-store deals as well but it's primarily for online stuff.

Not really a Cyber Monday sale but it was an online purchase made today. A week or two ago we happened to be in Barnes and Noble. My wife saw a book that she liked so I made myself a note to get it for her. I went to B&N's website today and the book is $22.46. Then I checked Amazon and the very same book was $11.13, half the price, so I ordered it there. Plus, Discover has 5% cashback for Amazon currently so I had that additional savings.

I always check Rakuten before I purchase anything online to see if they offer cashback. It shows that since joining the site back in 2001, I've earned $1,796 cashback. I also take advantage of the cash back offers that credit cards give, which are in addition to the cash back I earn from Rakuten. For example, this quarter Chase Freedom Visa is giving 5% cashback on PayPal transactions, so I use it whenever I can online if a store offers PayPal as a payment method.

THANK YOU!! I had forgotten about this. I just had to renew our auto insurance and PayPal is a payment option. I used our Chase Freedom card to make the payment of $1,254 through PayPal and will get $62.70 cashback as a result.
