    We've been having slow internet since moving here, even though we are not in country, the house was new construction so not like they had to deal with old wiring like they did at my last house. I have been complaining about this way too many times, they have come out a bunch of times, I was even willing to try a period of Turbo Internet to see if that helped, it didn't, got the money back. I called again today, I want to hook up a tivo because the one I have cannot do Netflix with such bad speed. Give them one more chance (because changing would be a huge PITA, tivos do not work with satellite, I know nothing about FIOS).

    So this guy tells me for the same price I can have extreme internet because they take away the modem cost ($10) and Extreme replaces it for $10. Did a speed test, 3xs faster for downloading. No one had to come out and it took 10 mins.

    so even if you're not having slow speeds, it sounds like you can get even faster and not have to pay a penny more.

    Hey this might help me! Right now my son is on his ps4 so I can't stream or it'll mess him up. What exactly do I call and ask for? I'm confused on that part. thanks

      Did you have your own modem before or one of TWC modems? Was the $10 fee their modem? We have our own and I don't think we pay a fee.

      According to their website you are getting the Extreme Internet which is 30Mbps, which is faster than Ultimate.

        You really should try one of those speed test sites and measure the actual speed of your connection. See if it is what they claim it should be.

        I have a 20mbps connection with Time Warner cable and a Motorola SB6141 modem. The speed is actually higher than they claim when I measure it and my wife can watch HBO Now while I do work online with no problem.

          I'm not sure if you will get the same price by calling and asking for it, I sort of think they knew I had called so many times and was about to walk away. But you have nothing to lose by asking!

          as to the speed test- it was 33 download, 5-ish upload.

          However the tivos are still not getting enough wifi to do netflix. It seems odd that all of our tivos worked in our own homes, we come here and after all this time and all this "fixing", we can't get more to the tivos. I did send back a new tivo because tivo told me to but I'm afraid once I hook up the replacement, it will still get weak, slow wifi even though my room is just off the one with the router and all of my devices are fine. How can that be and none of the tivos work properly? UGH

          we rent a modem combo router that we used to pay for, now we just pay the Extreme price, which is the same price

            Years ago when I had a Tivo (sigh .. loved, loved, loved it .. but gave it up to rid myself of my tv addiction) I had to get something called extenders (I think) to make the Wi-fi signal strong enough to reach my Tivo. My modem was in my office and the Tivo in the living room - maybe 200 feet separating them and a wall ...

              OMG, you are hard core to walk away from tivo, lol. The cable guy, supposedly one who knows about tivos is coming tomorrow. But I'm not counting on him. I called tivo, yet again, and finally got a guy that knew what the problem is something about ports and long numbers. He emailed me what to give the guy.

              I have this fear, tivo or Time Warner will declare sorry, we can't fix this, no tivos. Tivo was so nice to send me another one very quickly but now I realize it's all the tivos. So I have to send it back, I wasted their time and money, I feel kinda bad. Time Warner on the other hand....I

                The internet speed and Wi-Fi speed are two completely different things. If you're having Wi-Fi issues, getting faster internet is not going to solve them. I am also using a Time Warner Cable modem/router, which supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless. I was having major problems with the 2.4GHz signal due to interference, tried switching to different channels in the router's Wi-Fi configuration, but it didn't help. My laptop's built-in Wi-Fi card only supports 2.4GHz, so I had to purchase a USB Wi-Fi adapter to receive the 5GHz signal, and it solved all my problems. My internet speed via Wi-Fi is now the same as if I were to connect my laptop to the router with a cable. I don't know much about Tivo, but it looks like getting a Wireless N adapter might solve your problems: http://www.tivo.com/buytivo/faqs/about-wirelessn/.

                  thank you so much! tivo said their wireless adaptor is inside the machines now, but you can buy a N one from them and try that or the cable and the tivo guy recommended these boosters from Amazon that should do the trick because we're down to only my tivo being unable to get a signal strong enough to do netflix. Which is strange because I am right off the room with the modem.

                  I love all this stuff when it works, 2 yrs of Time Warner visits is getting old! The guy left with everything good, except my tivo and we have a lot of devices. He was here for hours he changed ports and something about WPA (which even I know is really old).

                  He leaves, nothing, not one device worked, grrr. He was still in the driveway and I went and said, I realize you showed us everything working but none of it is. He came back, he was not happy. And I still had to call Time Warner that night and have them make modem/router adjustments. Totally sick of this! I'm holding out hope for the thing from Amazon
