Uh, what do they swim in down there if not H2O commonly referred to as water?

I hate the word free as well and online selling venues always want sellers to give 'free' shipping as if we didn't have to pay for it. Although we did have a seller one time that insisted we all offer free shipping. With a lot of direct questions as he insisted that he did NOT pay anything for shipping, he finally admitted dear old dad worked at the PO and he gave dad his unstamped parcels and either dad paid the shipping or was embezzling from the PO!

"There is no such thing as a free lunch." Often quoted by Robert Heinlein in his books. I get a lot of 'free' things but with the stipulation that I have to review them and until 6 months have past I do not own them and can't give them away, such as clothing that doesn't fit. I also have to pay taxes on their estimated tax value! Don't like paying that, but I do think a couple more years of doing this, my SS check will get bumped up a bit.

I don't go to resorts so I don't have that problem. I do have folks give me things at times, but I have learned who will hold it against you so to speak and want payback of some kind. I gave my inlaws my old worn out car when theirs went DOA. The understanding was it was an old car and some things weren't working like the AC. Over the next year almost anytime I was around my MIL she brought up how much they had to spend on this car I gave them and then when they could finally replace it they did and my son needed a car at the time. My FIL knowing he could get $75 for it at the junk yard, charged my son $75 for the car I gave them free and clear after they had used it for at least a year!

I would definitely be complaining about that. Don't charge me for something that I'm supposed to get for free because I belong to your club already.

So we asked about the resort fee. They did give us a $5.00 break on the resort fee ($25.00 instead of $30.00) due to status.

it's funny how you think this is a younger generation thing .. when younger generation think the older (especially baby boomers) were the irresponsible ones who drove this consumerism thing crazy...

In a similar vein, I was charged a non-refundable $200 deposit while staying at a hotel with my pets while our floors were refinished. It grated my nerves every time they brought it up. Just call it what it is, which is a pet cleaning fee. Several of their online reviews complained about it, so you would think that they would change their wording. I fully expect a cleaning fee when I have pets in the room although I thought $200 was a little steep for 2 days.

Come to think of it, at one very nice hotel I found something else in the water, got out told them to close the pool till they cleaned it and went and took a very thorough shower! Astounding what people will do when not in their own homes!

consuming while PAYING for it is one thing....getting free stuff is quite another. 1/3 of millennials think socialism is a good thing

hmmm ... you don't think consumerism had anything to do with the introduction and later on mass adoption of the credit cards...

Millenials are children of baby boomers .. .and you wonder who created this monster.
